I’m Shirley Dawson, a retired computer specialist, photographer, artist, and outdoor enthusiast living in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas.
After retiring from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) following 33 years of service, I finally had the opportunity to spend more time pursuing the things I’ve always loved—photography, art, writing, and exploring the natural beauty around me.
During my career, I worked in a variety of support and technology positions, including as a computer specialist, help desk technician, trainer, and website developer. I helped create and maintain internal websites and worked on portions of the FDA’s public website. Technology has always been one of my passions, along with photography and creative design.
My love of photography began when I received my first camera—a Canon AE-1—as a teenager. I used that camera for years until it literally fell apart in my hands. Since then, photography has remained a lifelong passion. I later co-owned a photography studio and today continue to enjoy capturing landscapes, wildlife, flowers, and the beauty of the Ozarks.
I am also a traditional artist, working in pencil, acrylics, and oils, as well as a digital artist using programs such as Photoshop and Corel Painter. In retirement, I create websites, write blogs, and design products for my print-on-demand shops.
I share this adventure with my husband of nearly 40 years, our family, including six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and our rescue dog, Barney.
